1. Diethylene glycol can be directly used as a solvent for various purposes, natural gas dehydration desiccant, aromatic hydrocarbon separation extraction agent, textile lubricant, softener, finishing agent, as well as nitrocellulose, resin, grease and printing ink. Solvents such as this are also used as antifreeze components in brake fluids and compressor lubricants. They can also be used to prepare cleaning agents and as dispersing solvents in other daily chemicals such as inks.

2. Used to prepare plasticizers, and also used as extraction agents, desiccants, heat preservation agents, softeners and solvents, etc.
