1. Chemical Properties
White, odorless, hygroscopic crystalline solid. Soluble in water, lower alcohols, lower ketones, ethers, and aromatic compounds.

2. Applications

Neopentyl glycol has a wide range of uses, primarily as a plasticizer in the production of unsaturated polyester resins, oil-free alkyd resins, polyurethane foams, and elastomers, as an additive for high-grade lubricants, and in other fine chemicals. Neopentyl glycol is an excellent solvent and can be used in the selective separation of aromatics and cycloalkyl hydrocarbons. Neopentyl glycol is resistant to water, chemicals, and weathering. Its amino baking varnish exhibits excellent gloss retention and is non-yellowing. It can also be used as a raw material in the production of polymerization inhibitors, stabilizers, and pesticides.
